How to Make the Perfectly Balanced Granola Bowl

On behalf of my newest Instagram story, I figured I’d share the simple formula for making delicious bowls of greek yogurt and granola.

Mix and match different flavors for a variety of options that will keep you wanting more!

So what do you need for a granola bowl, anyway?
Lots of different ingredients can go into granola bowls for a variety of flavors.

By adding more to your bowl, you turn a midday snack into a full meal! Here’s what you can find in my typical granola bowl:

  • Fruit and nut granola
  • Oats and honey granola
  • Greek yogurt
  • Honey
  • Cinnamon
  • Chopped/sliced fruit
  • Berries (can be frozen!)
  • Peanut butter
  • Dark chocolate
  • Chopped almonds
  • Hemp seeds
  • Almond milk
  • Chia seeds
  • Blackberry jam

Start with a decent amount of granola as your base.

Add almond milk or Greek yogurt on top and don’t forget some fruit before filling your bowl with other goodies! Be careful not to pick a flavor of greek yogurt which will clash with your other planned toppings! I often make one of my toppings the flavor of the yogurt if at all possible, with my favorites being strawberry banana, blueberry, and vanilla greek yogurt.

Frozen berries are just as delicious as fresh ones and always make for a refreshing treat. I find that blackberries, grapes, blueberries, and raspberries freeze well and make great additions to a midday snack or morning energizer. Sweeter fruits pair well with honey and hemp seeds and a plain yogurt flavor like vanilla

Speaking of vanilla, adding fresh vanilla beans is sure to take your granola bowl to the next level, though it is not necessary in order to truly enjoy a vanilla yogurt and granola bowl. Dark chocolate and chopped almonds taste amazing together and I usually pair with chopped banana on vanilla yogurt though I’m sure other flavors taste well with it too!

Trying a variety of flavors will help you distinguish what you like and dislike about granola bowls and their individual flavors as well as create an opportunity to share new flavor mixes with others.

I personally love pairing stovetop apples and cinnamon on granola and vanilla yogurt for a cozy nighttime snack!

Not sure where to start?
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with all these flavor options, but it just means room for experimentation. Here are some of my favorite flavor pairs to top my oats with!

  • Dark chocolate, chopped almonds, sliced banana, cinnamon — vanilla yogurt
  • Blueberries, strawberry slices, raspberry honey, fruit and nut oats — strawberry yogurt
  • Strawberry slices, blueberries, blackberry jam — blueberry yogurt
  • Stovetop apples, fruit and nut oats, cinnamon, honey — vanilla yogurt

Feel free to mix and match types of granola, flavor or yogurts, and toppings to get a whole range of flavors!

These are just a few of the go-to granola bowls that I make most often but there are so many more possibilities! Follow along with the other granola bowls I make on my Instagram @TheUntamedOptimist and don’t forget to check out my highlighted story specifically for my granola bowls!

Even if the weather makes your blooms fall, they’re not a lost cause!

To me, they keep the bees going until our gardens fill out. I don’t mind seeing breaks in greenery if it means having speckles of color spotted throughout. Pick your battles, but I don’t mind having them around if that’s all the harm they do.

What about you? 🤔💭 Do you bother with all the little things or just focus on the big picture? Prioritizing the big picture helps me stay sane 🙋🏻‍♀️
