This black raspberry refresher has been one of my favorites for years now. Each year we get wild raspberry harvests all over the yard and they’re a staple part of our desserts and poolside drinks in the summer.
Try this recipe the next time you’re craving a hydrating refreshment!

I recommend mashing the berries in the water to release the sweet juice and get a more potent flavor. There’s no need to try straining the seeds out after doing this.
I also rub the leaves before adding to the water to get the strongest herbal flavors to come out. The water does not need to be warm to dissolve the sugar as there isn’t much being added.

Ingredients:
- 12-16oz. purified water
- 4-6 black raspberries
- 4-6 apple mint leaves
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 4-6 lemon balm leaves
- OR 2 tsp. lemon juice
The apple mint is much sweeter than you’ll expect, and it pairs very nicely with the lemon balm. I prefer lemon balm over lemon juice for refreshers because lemon juice is quite acidic and I don’t always want my drink to be so sour.
If you’re looking for something with more kick, try it with lemon juice instead of using fresh lemon balm!
